Belhaven Free Methodist Church is a Christian community of faith celebrating the power of God to heal and deliver. It has been our experience that to rely on God wholeheartedly is to live the miracle daily!
We are a Bible-based, Spirit-filled community of faith in Christ Jesus! We believe and openly profess the life-transforming message of the Gospel.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes”.Romans 1 : 16
We are committed to the supreme authority of the Bible and to walking in the life and power of the Spirit. We understand through Scripture that the Church is never to be in competition with the Church but our focus in outreach is the lost, the multitudes whom God loves and has given His Son to save. If the Church is not growing through conversions then the Church is not growing!
Belhaven Church is a community of prayer. It is our privilege and calling to intercede in prayer and we welcome your prayer requests. We not only believe in the practice of prayer, but more importantly, we believe that God hears and answers prayer.

Belhaven Free Methodist Church is committed to the authority of the Bible and to the life of the Spirit. We seek to allow God to shape our whole lives – attitudes, thoughts and relationships. Free Methodists seek to help people find new life in Christ and to live lives of loving integrity.
We are committed to the biblical principle that all believers are participants in God’s purposes. Our Churches are eager to help people discover how they can know God and serve others in meaningful ways and so bring about transformation in our world.
Pastor Michael Gibney
Pastor Mike came to Belhaven in 2000 and over 19 years later, he still loves it and believes it’s where he’s meant to be.
“It’s tucked away in the country. This is what I love. This has been my emphasis since I came here – let us be less, Lord, so that you can be more!
Whatever has the appearance of detriment or ‘less than’ or even ‘pathetic,’ I’ll glory in that, you know why? Because when God’s strength is revealed in me, we’ll only be able to boast in God’s power… In the words of John the Baptist, ‘I must decrease so that he might increase.’ I find that if we’re almost invisible, that in itself is somewhat of a PLUS. Because if they come here, it’s because God did that.
It’s like Isaiah 53 – ‘He had no beauty…nothing in him that we should desire him.’ This is Jesus – he was like one from whom men hid their faces. He was basically ignored. Yet when the power of God was upon him, people thronged to him. That’s what we want for this ministry. We want the power of God to be revealed through his Holy Spirit. We have to be careful that we don’t become big in our own eyes. This is always a temptation that I’m confronted with because I want the nice stuff… yet the humility of the ‘cattle shed’ type ministry is really cool. We just hope we’ll have more opportunities to boast about God. It’s not about us, it’s about God.”
